Provide barangays with cheap safe drinking water
By late September this year, the Rapid Multi-Media Filtration System will be transferred to Barangay Tanyag, also in Taguig, for operation hopefully in six months. This will be the first time that the system will be commercialized as a cooperative effort of the inventor, the Barangay Chairman and a non-government Organization (NGO). The profit sharing will be a 50-50 of the net profit obtained from the gross sale minus expenses.
The water costs around P35 per cubic meter. The machine is priced approximately P450,000 each system. It is hoped that this simple design will address the need in our country to avail of safe drinking water at affordable cost, according to Engr. Labuntog. It is his desire to provide low-income barangays with safe drinking water and at the same time iodized water all over the country.
