Juanito A. Simon
Inventor of Per’tua Lubricants and Petrochemical Products
Juanito A. Simon, the inventor of the PER’TUA group of lubricants and petrochemical products, prior to getting into this business, had immersed himself in the pursuit of activities closely allied with metallurgy, the science and technology of metals including metal fabrications, machine shop and welding technologies.
In 1985, he went to the U.S. and took up advance studies in metallurgy at the Texas A&M University in Houston.
While studying, he worked at Exxon, the giant U.S. oil company also based in Houston as a Research Assistant. As Research Assistant at Exxon, he learned and mastered the rudiments of a related field - lubrication technology.
It was the convergence of his knowledge of metallurgy and his newly-acquired know-how in lubrication technology that enabled him to conceptualize a new technology that would produce a lubricant for oil and metal treatment that would significantly reduce friction to the barest minimum, a basic and foremost problem in mechanical engines.
Out of this new technology, a product called Tribotech was invented by Simon and was sold in the U.S. Tribotech had amazing results as it greatly reduced friction in metal surfaces of engines resulting in better gas mileage, longer engine life by as much as three times, and reduced carbon emissions.
A test of the efficiency of Tribotech was conducted by independent consulting firm Project Group West of Cypress based in California, whereby a car that had been earlier treated with Tribotech and then drained of all of its oil, was driven for 776 miles and it was found that there was no damage whatsoever to the vehicle.
It is reported that McDonnel Douglas uses Tribotech for its AH-65 “Apache” attack helicopters, which were extensively deployed with astounding success in “Desert Storm” and the Iraq war.
In 1994, when Simon came back to the Philippines, he launched his version of Tribotech in the country under the brand name Per’tua which is an abridgement of the term perpetua which means eternal life - eternal life for the machine.
Because of Per’tua, Janitor Simon became accredited as a genuine Filipino inventor.
In 1995, he was awarded as Outstanding Energy Manager by the Department of Energy and the Energy Management Association of the Philippines.
